We understand that choosing a law firm and discussing your matter is a big step for many clients. It is common for clients to have queries and concerns at the start, we have therefore listed frequently asked questions to offer you more insight to our firm and how we work.

We are a progressive law firm and having started as only an immigration practice, we developed into a private firm offering a bespoke legal services for businesses, individuals and families, usually looking for a close working relationship with genuine people who care about achieving the best for clients. We have clients from all across the UK and internationally based.

    What is a legal consultation?

A legal consultation is the term used to describe the process during which a lawyer discusses a client’s situation at length and provides them with regulated legal advice regarding their current position, options, and identifies the eligibility and documentary requirements that would need to be met to achieve the client’s desired outcome.

Do I need to visit your offices?

We take instructions from clients based across the world on a daily basis. We have a robust and efficient remote process which means we handle the entire matter without you ever needing to come to our office in person. For our UK based clients, we recognise that you lead busy lives and don’t have the time to take time away from your schedules to visit us in person. Our unique structure also allows us to operate at optimum efficiency and offer you a personalised service regardless of your location. We do of course; welcome clients face to face also by prior appointment.

How much do you charge for initial consultations?

We don’t charge for initial conversations to best understand your matter and see how we can assist. We do not offer a free initial consultation, but we do offer a very competitively priced initial consultation with an experienced immigration lawyer, reflective of the experience, skills and knowledge of the lawyer best suited to understand your case and provide the best solutions.

Depending on your matter, its complexities and level of involvement required, we charge a starting fixed fee of £400 + VAT with our Senior Partner, £250 + VAT for an hour’s consultation with one of our immigration lawyers and £150 + VAT with a junior lawyer. Consultations can be in person, over the phone or by video conferencing.

    Do you offer fixed fees?

We pride ourselves on complete transparency and where possible adopt a 100% agreed fixed fee model. This means we will take the time to understand exactly what your circumstances are and what assistance we can offer. We do this by providing free needs assessment in the first instance. Following the assessment, we will provide you with an instant agreed fixed fee and totally no obligation quotation. You can then decide if you want to proceed. With certain type of matters we will act on an hourly rates basis providing an estimate of costs, where it may not be possible to provide an accurate estimate of fees due to the nature of the work. Once we have understood your case better and reviewed any existing documents, we will be better placed to quote hourly rate or fixed fees.

Can I come into your offices without an appointment?

In order to maintain high efficiency levels, all appointments are strictly by prior arrangement only. This ensures that existing client files get the attention they deserve as well as ensuring that the solicitor is sufficiently prepared to handle your specific enquiries. If you want to simply discuss your circumstances in detail and have your options confirmed with you, you will need to book a legal consultation.

Who will deal with my case?

It is our firm’s policy that your first consultation will take place with an experienced lawyer, best placed to work out your case plan and strategy. The initial consultation is in many ways a diagnostic consultation, and meeting with somebody very experienced from the outset means that we can ensure that every angle of your case is looked at. The person that you initially meet with will in most instances lead your case with other team members assisting where appropriate.

Can you take over from my current lawyer?

Yes of course, however before taking on your matter we usually discuss and review your case at consultation. Here we decide if it will be cost-effective for you to change lawyers based on the stage your matter is at, where we can add more value to your matter we will gladly accept your instructions and obtain your file from your current lawyer. It’s a much simpler process than you might think and we’ll take care of the formalities for you.
