Setting up the Sponsorship Management System
The Sponsorship Management System (SMS) is an online system operated by the Home Office for organisations and educational institutions that have a Sponsorship Licence to enable them comply with their duties and responsibilities as Licenced Sponsors.
UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) require that all organisations wishing to employ workers under Tiers 1, 2, and 5 of the Point – Based System must apply for a Sponsorship Licence as employer.
Universities, Colleges, Independent Schools as well as other Educational Institutions which intend to have Tier 4 Migrants (i.e. foreign students) must have a Sponsorship Licence as Educational Institutions.
The documentation that needs to be submitted to UKVI will depend on the type of organisation or educational institution concerned.
There are also time limits that must be adhered to by organisations intending to apply for a Sponsorship Licence once an online application for a Sponsorship Licence has been submitted to the UKVI.
Our Immigration lawyers are very experienced in assisting organisations obtain Sponsorship Licences and will ensure that the process is managed as seamlessly as possible. We will also ensure that our clients are kept advised throughout the application process.
