Switching to the 5-year Partner Route to Settlement

5-year Partner Route to Settlement

If you are currently on the 10-year partner route to settlement and your circumstances change, contact our specialist immigration team for advice as you may be eligible to switch.

As soon as you satisfy the requirements for the 5-year partner route you can apply to switch to this route. You do not need to wait until your current visa is due to expire.

There are 2 main routes to settlement as a partner on the family route. These are known as the 5-year route to settlement and the 10-year route to settlement. To qualify for the 5-year route to settlement you must satisfy all suitability and eligibility requirements at each application stage. Applicants who do not satisfy all eligibility requirements will be placed on the 10-year route to settlement.

It is likely that you are eligible to switch onto the 5-year route to settlement when the financial and English language requirements can be satisfied.

It is important to note that if you do switch, any time already spent on the 10-year route cannot be carried forward, meaning this will not count towards the 5 years you must complete on the route before becoming eligible for settlement.

Specified evidence must be submitted in support of the application to achieve a successful outcome. BHD Solicitors are specialists in dealing with applications to switch. We have successfully assisted thousands of applicants to switch routes to achieve settlement in the UK as swiftly as possible.

BHD’s private immigration departments in London & Croydon offer very competitive rates. If you require advice and assistance with an application, please contact our specialist team at BHD Solicitors London.
