Reduced fees remain for Skilled Worker Health and Care Visa Applicants
Reduced fees remain for Skilled Worker Health and Care Visas
Despite the implementation of significant fee increases in October 2023, the Home Office preserved low application fees for Health and Care Worker Visa Applicants and their dependents. Significantly, applicants and their dependents also remain exempt from paying the Immigration Health Surcharge.
The Health and Care Worker Visa allows medical professionals to come to the UK and work in an eligible job with the NHS or in adult social care.
The applicant must have an offer of an eligible job from an employer who is approved by the Home Office.
There are minimum salary requirements to satisfy depending on the particular job role.
The applicant must also satisfy the English language requirement.
Applicants on this route may be eligible to apply for settlement after 5 years.
Dependents of the main applicant can apply to enter the UK at the same time or later apply to join the main applicant.
To qualify, a dependent must be the applicant’s spouse/civil partner or unmarried partner.
To qualify as a dependent child the applicant must be under 18 unless they are already inside the UK as a dependent. Dependents need to satisfy a financial requirement but are not subject to the English language requirement. Dependents benefit from being granted permission to take unrestricted employment in the UK provided that this is not as a sportsperson or coach.
Dependents may also be eligible to settle in the UK after 5 years.
